Black & Spiritual Community Agreements
With the organic creation of the Black & Spiritual Community, I would like to establish a baseline for how we will engage with one another in this space.
By staying in this chat group, you agree to the following:
-
This is an Afrocentric space. Dr. Molefi K. Asante created Afrocentricity as a theoretical framework in the 1980s. In basic terms, Afrocentricity is placing Black people and our experience at the center of our narratives, making us the subject and not the object of our stories. We have been colonized as a people, and through colonization, we have been taught that the european/ white supremacist (they are the same thing) way of doing, being, and thinking is the correct way. In short, we have been taught that white people are the natural authority, and the way they exist and what they think is the universal way things should be done. For many Black people, this has become the baseline and point of reference for how they navigate life. But that is a lie, and we are not doing that here. This is a space of re-indigenization, and the first step in re-indigenization is the decolonization of the mind. Everything I discuss and teach in this space will be grounded in an Afrocentric pedagogy and praxis that centers on Black Indigenous Spiritual Realities. We are here to center ourselves and reconnect with our Divinity and Power as Black people. Rooted in Afrocentric beliefs, this is a Pan-African space. All Black ethnic groups are respected in this space. Diaspora wars will not be tolerated.Â
-
This space is designed for Black people who are on a spiritual journey who want to be in community with other Black Spiritualists. This is not a space to receive free spiritual consultation or readings. If you are interested in those services, please schedule them.Â
-
There will be a zero-tolerance policy for bigotry of all kinds. No anti-Blackness (self-hate), chauvinism, misogynoir, homophobia, fatphobia, ageism, transphobia, none of that. We are Black; that is not our cultural way of being. Bigotry is european. Give the white man back his things so we can get free because none of us are free unless we all free. If you don’t agree, please leave.Â
-
Born from the legacy of the Combahee River Collective and our foremothers, this is a matrilineal space. Black women are acknowledged and revered as the wisdom and divine source of the original people of Alkebulan. We recognize that until Black women are free, none of us are free, because in order for Black women to be free, all systems of oppression would have to be destroyed, thus freeing everyone. That is the original way of Africana people. So if you have a problem with a Black Woman being the leader and guide, or you hate Black women, your algorithm brought you to the wrong place. Please leave.Â

This is not a forum for debating spiritual beliefs. This is not a place to do missionary work for your respective religion. I do not care how you choose to worship; that’s your right and your business. I do, however, ask that you respect the spiritual boundaries of this community and refrain from bringing them here.Â
-
This is not an open forum for everyone to teach spirituality and Africana Traditional Religions. This is a space where I will teach and share as needed. There are open teaching spaces online, but this is not one of them. As the steward of this community, I am gatekeeping this space. Many of the people here have come here to learn from me because they are prior students, they respect my spiritual gifts, and they know I have integrity. They are also familiar with my background in terms of scholarship and community practice. They know I have undergone the rites of passage necessary to teach and guide others on their spiritual journeys and that I am also a scholar of African diasporic history. They view me as a trusted source, and I take their trust very seriously. There is a significant amount of misinformation on the internet regarding Africana Spiritual Traditions. There are a lot of weirdo scammers. I have not, and will not, vet anyone, because in this space, you are not joining in the capacity of a teacher. So please don’t teach in this space unless I invite you to. If you want to teach, please do it in your own group chat with the community you grow. This rule is how I can ensure that the folks who come here receive truthful information. The same thing goes for spiritual services. Please don’t offer or advertise spiritual teaching, readings, coaching, or wellness services of any kind in this space. I don’t want anyone who trusted me to be misinformed or given false information because the opps infiltrate spaces all the time.Â
-
In that same energy, please don’t give messages from Spirit in this space. Spiritual gifts are real, and as Black people, we all have them. And we have the ability to receive messages from our ancestors and spirit guides. But not everyone is a medium. There is a difference between receiving messages intended for you and receiving messages intended for the collective. Meaning not everyone is here to give messages to others. Additionally, to be a vessel for Spirit, you must maintain immaculate spiritual hygiene. As I mentioned above, I cannot and will not vet everyone's personal gifts. To prevent any confusion, I kindly ask that you refrain from giving messages here. As a Priest, I am spiritually held accountable for what is shared and taught in the spaces I facilitate. If you ever receive a message you believe is intended for someone else, please contact me by email so we can discuss it.Â
-
Conversely, I will be giving messages from Spirit. As a Spirit Medium, it is what I do, and it’s an active part of all my teaching and community spaces. If that makes you uncomfortable, I respect that; however, this is not the right space for you. I’ve been given this gift to use in and with the community. That is part of my destiny and purpose. So if you can’t get down, that’s ok, but this ain’t the community for you.Â
-
Please don’t share the personal information of the people in this space unless they permit you to do so.Â
-
Please don’t recommend books for the community to read unless I invite you to do so. When it comes to spirituality, many non-Black people are adopting African names and writing books about Black spiritual traditions. There are a significant number of books with false information, and there are even books written by us that claim to be for us, but they are not Afrocentric and teach a false view of Black history using a eurocentric praxis. To ensure that only Afrocentric books are shared with this community, I kindly request that you refrain from sharing books in this group chat or in my book recommendation posts and notes in the comments. If you have a book you think is dope and want to share, please email me at [email protected], and I’ll check it out.Â
-
Everything I teach/share here is my intellectual property, formulated over years of study and conversations with my Spirit Team. Please respect it as such. Please do not take what I’ve taught you and try to sell, reproduce, teach, or post it anywhere. If you quote me, please reference me as the source of the words/information. I also ask that you please treat each other with the same respect. If someone shares something, don’t steal it. Give them their credit for being dope and sharing their intellect with the community. Stealing is wack fam, and it’s white supremacy.
- The admin team is here to maintain the sanctity and integrity of this community. If an admin or moderator corrects you for breaking the rules, please tighten up. Because the second time you mi
Community Agreements are necessary for cultivating and sustaining a growing space for our people. They allow us to enjoy each other while maintaining good spiritual hygiene and mutual respect. It is how we weed our garden. It’s how we feed our soil. All of us are worthy of love and community, but there are guidelines that come along with being in community. And, as the gardener and steward of this community, I ask with love that you respect the outline I’ve laid out.
